Kyle Washington
General Partner, CopperLion CapitalAs a General Partner, Kyle Washington leads all aspects of CopperLion Capital's management and corporate development.
Based in Vancouver, Kyle is the Chairman of Seaspan Corporation (NYSE: SSW), an international containership company. In 1994 he became a member of the management team, and subsequently Executive Chairman, of Washington Marine Group, where he was responsible for overall corporate strategy and was active in developing senior level customer, supplier and government relationships.
Kyle is a shareholder and Board member of bioLytical Laboratories, a manufacturer of rapid HIV diagnostic products. He also has significant commercial real estate holdings in Canada and the U.S.
Kyle has a Business Finance degree from the University of Montana and is involved in numerous charities including Basketball BC and the Young Life organization in Oregon.
Kevin Washington
General Partner, CopperLion CapitalAs a General Partner, Kevin Washington leads the management and corporate development of the Los Angeles office of CopperLion Capital.
Kevin has a broad experience in finance and operations. He started his career with the asset management firm Batchelder & Partners in San Diego, California and subsequently worked at family-owned Montana Rail Link Inc. , the largest privately-owned railroad in America.
Kevin is a founding partner of Aviation Partners and Aviation Partners Boeing in Seattle, Washington. Aviation Partners produces blended winglet technology for Boeing and several private aircraft manufacturers. Kevin assisted in the significant revenue growth of the companies and continues to hold a significant ownership interest.
Kevin graduated from the University of San Diego with a BA Degree with a double major in Business and Communications. He is involved with the Boys & Girls Home in Montana as well as with a division of the Young Life organization in Oregon.
Byron Horner
President, CopperLion CapitalByron is a founding member of the management team of CopperLion Capital. As President, Byron is responsible for the day-to-day management, corporate development and deal execution of the fund.
Byron has a broad background in corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions, having completed financings and executed divestitures and acquisitions in a number of diverse sectors. Previously, Byron worked as an investment banker at Merrill Lynch & Co., CIBC World Markets and Ernst & Young Orenda Corporate Finance. Prior to working on Wall Street, Byron worked at Lawson Lundell LLP in Vancouver and was called to the Bar of British Columbia.
Byron's M&A experience includes advising public and private clients on take over bids, share and asset sales, fairness opinions, special committee, going private and minority investment transactions with aggregate transaction values of over $30 billion. Byron has also advised on equity, income trust and debt financing assignments raising aggregate proceeds of over $10 billion.
Byron is a CFA Charterholder and holds an MBA from the University of British Columbia, an LL.B from the University of Toronto Law School, an MA from the University of British Columbia, a C.E.P. from L'Institut D'Etudes Politiques de Paris, and a BA from Carleton University.
Byron is also a board member of Canada World Youth and the Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver.
Grant Wallace
Vice President, CopperLion CapitalGrant is a founding member of the management team of CopperLion Capital and is active in the transaction execution, financial valuation, due diligence and administrative aspects of the fund. Grant has significant experience in M&A and financing transactions, as well as business valuation.
Grant previously worked as Director, Corporate Finance & Treasury at Corix Group, a $300 million infrastructure systems company, where he was involved in corporate development including acquisition transaction structuring and due diligence. He was also responsible for corporate modeling and valuation, treasury services and investor relations.
Grant also spent seven years at Ernst & Young Orenda Corporate Finance in Vancouver and Toronto. At Ernst & Young Orenda he advised on over 30 successful acquisition, divestiture, financing, valuation and restructuring engagements.
Grant is a CFA Charterholder and a Chartered Business Valuator (CBV). He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Queen's University.
